Grand Designs Live returned to London’s ExCeL from 30th April – 8th May 2016. Running for 9 days, the show offers visitors a unique opportunity to see all the latest trends for the home as well as many products never seen before. Based on the Channel 4 TV series, and presented by Kevin McCloud, the event packs in over 500 exhibitors, across seven different sections where you can take away ideas and inspiration for your own design.
Rag and Bone workshop was part of a curated team of design professionals chosen to live demonstrate interesting processes and techniques at the Self Build Centre. Over the course of the 9 day show the team built a bespoke outdoor cabin whilst inviting the public to participate with a complimentary series of talks and workshops and live installation.
This was also a great platform to trial a new giant ‘Meccano’ modular construction kit I have been developing – based on an interlocking peg and dowel plywood component system it allows people quickly build structures, adapt and modify them, define spaces, or simply freeform play and explore the possibilities!
